Mississauga Kids get an Education in Martial Arts

- September 1, 2008

The Education that is Martial Arts. Martial Arts is often misunderstood to be no more than a sport or extra curricular activity;
a physical skill elaborated on in preparation for tournaments and fighting exhibitions.  The primary focus of Martial Arts is not found in training to compete or to out do another, but rather the complex passage that prepares a student for the far more difficult challenge to out do them selves.

As a student of the Martial Arts progresses through the belt ranks, each new belt level takes longer to earn, naturally stretching a student’s perseverance and patience.
A student’s training emphasis is redirected onto the quality of their skills and knowledge rather then the novelty of their next belt level. The powerful lessons and training require time and steady focus, but the personal benefits are well worth it. Gradually the armor of a students mind, body and spirit is reinforced and strengthened, better preparing them to defend against any form of opposition or circumstance they may encounter.

Classical Martial Arts can be best explained as the soil from which strength, confidence and perseverance are nurtured and grow. A student’s age, disposition and physical ability determine lessons that will be built on, so each student may travel the same path while uniquely creating a stronger foundation from which they will personally continue to grow.

Classical Martial Arts in its essence is about how to live; it exists to allow anyone to ignite their potential. The powerful lessons and training slowly improve, a students self confidence so that they may boldly steer their lives in what ever positive direction they may choose.

It has always been that at every crossroads the best of anyone is always tested by the actions and thoughts of an oppressive few; it is at these times that the growth of each person is decided, and as always it is the decisions and choices made here that a person’s future is shaped. It is the least we can do to prepare the youth of today for what they face tomorrow; to provide them the tools they will need to face any obstacle their future may hold.

A persons future is dictated by what they have invested in their past. There are two educations a parent can provide their child: one is how to make a living the other is how to live.
