Mississauga Mother's Day Gift Ideas

As Mississauga kids get ready to honour their Moms this Mother’s Day we thought we’d try to offer up a few possible solutions to the age-old question of what to get Mom.

Time – Mom’s need more time. You can help by pitching in from time to time and doing some of the chores she usually handles. Take the garbage out with out her having to ask you 124 times. Surprise her by running the vacuum around even if it is not on your chore list. Offer to take the dog for a walk in the rain so she can in with a warm cup of tea.

Peace – When she goes into the bathroom consider that her personal time. This is not the time to ask her to sign your permission slip. This is not the time to tell her the dog vomited on the living room rug. If the phone rings and rings answer it for her and take a message. Consider making peace with your siblings. Yes it is a pain in the neck when your sister burns out your ipod battery and leaves it uncharged in the car you father took when you wanted to listen to it while you study. Whining for hours to your mother is not going to help the situation.

Knowledge – Believe it our not your mother really does want to know how your day went. She would like to know what your teacher thought of the science project that you handed in. (You remember, the one you told her at 7:30 in the evening through the bathroom door, was due tomorrow and that you needed and eye dropper, thermometer, and a bottle of iodine for.) She would like to know what the cute guy said to you at lunch. She wants to know if you are thinking about going out for the track team. She would like to hear you talk about just about anything! (Computer games and really stupid TV shows and movies excluded.)

Love – Yes she loves the homemade cards and gift certificates. Yes she would love it if you baked her some cookies. (Unless she is on a diet. Then a nice veggie plate would be thoughtful.) And YES, YES, YES… she wants a big hug when you leave in the morning and a kiss before bed even if you are a big kid now.

It's not the size of the gift but the thought that counts.  But just in case you decide you'd like to buy her something too check out our Mississauga Mother's Day Gift Guide.  (Note to family... I'm running low on shampoo and could use a massage!)

Thank you to all Mississauga Moms!  We hope you enjoy your special day!
